General Information


Blue - Is most popular color British Shorthair. Approximately half of all the British Shorthairs born
in this country are blue. The approximate birth number for *1998 was 685 *1997 was 1064 BSH kittens born which included all colors. This is a small number when compared to the Persian and Himalayans breeds which combined produce approximately 100,000 cats annually.
 
Silver Spotty - Only around 36 are born annually in the US, making them quite rare. Silvers
tend to have a more outgoing personality than blues and solids, they are interesting to live
with and extremely smart. There are 3 different patterns in tabbies, Classic (blotched),
Mackrel, and Spotted. Colors can be Silver, Red, Creme, Brown and Blue in all three patterns.
Only the Silver has green eyes, All other Tabbies should have variations between gold and copper.
 
Bicolor - Should commonly have between 1/3 to 2/3 of their coat white. They often
are traditionally marked with white bib, paws, chest and stomach. The remainder of the
coat blue. The white-to-color ratio can vary from cat to cat. The Bicolor comes in
Black and White, Blue and White, Red and White or Cream and White.
